We talk things over, and come to the realization that the best way to do this (or really anything else for that matter) is to take small, actionable steps. It's important because the Wheel of Life is the best tool I'm aware that let's you see where you currently are in life, in the areas that truly matter.Ĭoaching has, and continues to change my life for the better. The wheel of life consists of: mental, spiritual, physical, family, financial, personal, and career. Zig Ziglar created the Wheel of Life several decades ago and it's as relevant today as it was then. If it isn’t obvious already, you do not only want each spoke/category to be even and balanced but ultimately you want all of your scores to be 10.In the 2nd of 7 "solo episodes" about the wheel of life, today we talk about the spiritual spoke. Yay, I’m done!” Not quite, my smart-aleck friends. Now I know what some of you are saying: “All my spokes are scored at 3 so my life is in complete balance. Or perhaps, if you’re new to meditation, you may want to simply learn about meditation first. If this is the case, your goal can be to spend a week reading a book on what meditation is and how to do it. The Wheel of Life is a great tool to use to see what areas you should be focusing more of your time and attention on. Once you know which areas you want to improve, the next step is to set goals in each of these weak areas in order to strengthen them and help you achieve a larger, rounder wheel.įor example, if you only score yourself a 2 for the spiritual spoke, you can set a small goal of meditating for one minute every morning after you wake up. Here’s an example of my Wheel of Life assessment: For each spoke, mark on the scale how well you think you’re doing in each category of life. From the center of the circle outward, make 10 dashes along each spoke (the center being 0 and the outer edge of the circle being 10).Mark each spoke with a distinct core area of life.Draw a circle and divide it into 7 segments. To accomplish this, all you need to do is take an assessment of each category of your life, set a goal to improve the areas you wish, develop a plan for growth, and then decide to take action! And when one area is out of harmony or balance, it puts a strain on the other areas. Being successful in each of these core areas of life is key to achieving true balance. The idea behind the Wheel of Life is that every part of our life is important.
